Tauranga Moana Iwi have reached agreements with Ngāti Paoa and will be signing this weekend.  Although Ngāti Pūkenga is still in discussions with Ngāti Paoa and will look to sign our kawenata early next year, we invite those who are able, to come to Maungatapu Marae on Saturday to support and celebrate Ngāi Te Rangi, Ngāti Ranginui and Ngāti Paoa reaching their agreements

He Toka Tumoana tertiary scholarship

He Toka Tūmoana Scholarship for tertiary students has been created to commemorate the late Awanuiarangi Black. Two scholarships valued at $5000 each will be awarded in 2018.  For more information go to:


Māori Education Trust 2018 Scholarship Round is Open

The Māori Education Trust 2018 Scholarship Programme is now open and offers scholarships to Māori secondary school and tertiary students who meet the respective scholarship’s criteria.

The 2018 Secondary Scholarship Programme is made up of the following scholarships:

Year 9
·        Tī Maru Māori Trust Secondary Boarding Scholarship
·        Rose Hellaby Scholarship

Year 9 – 13
·        Sister Anne Henry Scholarship

Year 12 – 13
·        RJ Graham Scholarship

Year 13
·        VW & LM Rosier Scholarship
·        Regina Rudland Memorial Scholarship.

Trustee Elections and Special Resolutions

Finally, thank you to all that voted on the Special Resolutions.  The Special Resolution for Te Tāwharau  received 95.2% approval and the Charitable Trust  received 92% approved (official results attached).
